The OLP card, integrating optical link protection switch, protects optical fiber connections in case of failures. Immediately after an error is detected, it automatically switches the link to an alternative line within a reaction time of max. 20 ms, less than Sonet/SDH requirement of 50 ms.

Protocol and data rate transparent, OLP card provides 1+1 protection to any point-to-point fiber optic transmission line.

Application

OLP card,in combination with CMS1025V OTU200G-C,OTU10G,EDFA and WDM card, it can form a powerful protected WDM transmission link in point-to-point, linear chain, or ring network configuration. OLP card also can be used alone in CMS1025V platform, working with third part WDM system, to carry out trunk fiber protection.

The user can monitor and configure OLP card through GUI, SNMP and REST API. Controllable parameters include automatic switch-over Enable or Disable,Revert mode, and LOS detection threshold. When automatic switch is disabled, user can switch over manually.
